Sydney Dowell is a member of Dempsey & Kingsland, P.C.’s tort litigation practice with an emphasis in medical malpractice.
Sydney is 2020 graduate from the University of Missouri School of Law. She previously practiced as an insurance defense and wrongful death defense attorney at Ford, Parshall & Baker in Columbia, Missouri, where she represented numerous insurance companies and nursing homes all over the State of Missouri.
While in law school, Sydney studied abroad at the University of the Western Cape Law Facility in Cape Town, South Africa. There she studied the similarities and differences between the United States and South African dispute resolution, constitutional law, and criminal law. She received a CALI award for her work in the South African Constitutional Law class. Sydney was the Board of Advocates Negotiation Competition Director and served as a student ambassador for prospective students of Mizzou Law. Sydney served as a student-tutor for the Professional Responsibility and Ethics class. She earned a certificate in Dispute Resolution upon graduation. Sydney was the youngest member of her law school class.
Prior to law school, Sydney received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri.
Sydney grew up in Centralia, Missouri. She and her husband, Brent, moved to Kansas City in November of 2021. They have two dogs, a golden retriever named Marshall and miniature dachshund named Theodore.
