Bio

Alison L. Stephens is a member of Dempsey & Kingsland, P.C.’s tort litigation practice with an emphasis in medical malpractice and personal injury.

Ms. Stephens graduated cum laude with an emphasis in advocacy from University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law. She received two CALI awards and graduated with pro bono honors, completing the most service hours in her class. While in law school, Ms. Stephens interned for Judge Alok Ahuja of the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District, as well as for Judge Joel Fahnestock of the 16th Circuit Court of Jackson County.

Ms. Stephens served as the Research Editor for UMKC’s Law Review and represented her school in various academic competitions, including eight mock trial competitions and two moot court competitions. She was a member of the first team to represent UMKC at Tournament of Champions, the invitation-only mock trial competition limited to the top 16 advocacy programs in the nation.

Additionally, Ms. Stephens served as the President of UMKC’s Legal Honor Society, the Associate Justice of Development and Competitions for the Board of Barristers, the Mock Trial Clinic Instructor, and as an Emissary on behalf of the Admissions’ staff.

Upon her graduation, she represented the Law School as a nominee for the Vice Chancellor’s Honor Recipient. The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs awarded Ms. Stephens the honor, which represents outstanding graduating students who have maintained high academic achievements while contributing exceptional leadership and service to the University and the community. UMKC’s faculty also nominated Ms. Stephens to The Order of Barristers, a national organization dedicated to advancing the effective use of oral advocacy and brief writing.
